A STUDENTS union in Southampton has been dubbed the best for promoting a learning environment for staff.
The University of Southampton Students’ Union won the Pearson Best Event Award for Promoting a Learning Environment by the Campaign for Learning.
This award was given to staff and students to reward their hard work after taking part in the national event Learning at Work week, where they were encouraged to find out about new skills they could learn to help them in their jobs.
Member of the union Alana Hebenton said: “The week was a great way to find out ways which staff could learn new skills either within the workplace or externally, it could be anything from taking a management course to learning how to use excel, just something which makes our lives at work better.
“It’s really exciting to have been given this honorary award because other companies which have won it include Argos and Poole Hospital NHS Foundation Trust so it’s a big honour.”
