A HAMPSHIRE letting agency has closed down.

Elliotts letting agency in Portswood Road, Southampton is boarded up and all that is left on the door is a notice which says that they are out of the office on viewings.

Bosses at the firm say that the closure was because of a ‘difference’ of opinion between business partners.

The company moved into the site of the former post office in Portswood Road in 2012, and had been open for two years.

It had a large portfolio of properties which included 541 properties to let and 22 to buy on its website, with prices ranging from £60,000 to £500,000 for homes and flats to buy, and rents from £200 per month to £3,315 a month.

Elliotts was used by students from the University of Southampton and Southampton University Students’ Union (SUSU) have set up networks to help those affected by the closure.

One of the directors of the business Callum McCarthy is now a director Regents Estate Agents Limited based in London Road.

According to Mr McCarthy, the closure of the firm was down to a ‘difference of opinion’ with his former business partner and attempts were made to notify all landlords and many are still using Regents Estate Agents.

Mr McCarthy, said: “I am sad that it closed down.

“I have made numerous attempts to contact tenants and landlords. If any students have any problems about Elliots they can come and talk to me at any time at Regents.

“My new venture has been going very well and we have been trading since March it’s a new era for me.”

SUSU have urged those affected by the closure to email advice@susu.org or call 023 8059 2085.
