Police drop sex attack investigation
DETECTIVES are no longer investigating an incident in Southampton over the weekend as a sexual assault.
Police received a report that a woman had been seriously sexually assault on Warren Avenue in the Shirley area of Southampton on the evening of Saturday, January 17.
Detectives say they have fully investigated this matter and are now satisfied that a sexual assault has not taken place but continue to support the woman involved.
A Hampshire police spokesman said: "Officers would like to reassure the community that all reports of sexual assault are taken extremely seriously and fully investigated."
