SAINTS may not have a European place just yet.

But that has not stopped one Southampton watering hole from planning a special continental promotion for thirsty punters.

Landlord of the Saints pub Eugene McManus says if the club get a place in either the UEFA Champions League or the Europa League, the popular local in Kendal Avenue, Millbrook, will put on “European happy hours”.

It comes as Southampton refuse to give up on their European ambitions, keeping up the pressure on the teams around them.

Eugene and the pub are supporting the #WeMarch On campaign as the Saints push forward for a place in Europe next season.

With crucial matches at home to Tottenham Hotspur this weekend and away against Sunderland after that, the Daily Echo is calling on all Saints fans to get behind the team as they bid to take the city’s name overseas.

Mr McManus said: “When the football club is doing well the city as a whole benefits from its success.

“When European games are played on television it needs to be an incentive for people to leave their homes to come and watch.

“That is why we are looking to introduce a European happy hour.”

On match days the pub can attract more than 200 people to watch the games.

Mr McManus added: “It is exciting times to be a fan and the job that Koeman has done with the backing of the board has been fantastic.”
