POLICE have discovered a haul of stolen items worth up to £10,000 snatched from homes and gardens across Hampshire.

Officers seized the significant quantity of bikes, tools and jewellery, which have been taken from multiple thefts and burglaries in and around Southampton.

Now police are keen to reunite the property with its rightful owners and are urging Daily Echo readers to help.

Through Hampshire Constabulary’s Is It Yours? website, dedicated to reuniting victims of theft and burglary with their stolen items, officers hope people will recognise some of the property.

This latest haul of more than 50 items has been discovered as part of various investigations in and around Southampton, named Operation Cordon.

It includes items stolen from sheds and garages, including almost 20 bicycles, two off-road bikes, workmen's tools, including a Bosch drill, and gardening equipment, such as lawn mowers.

Officers also believe the recovered property has been stolen from homes and vehicles, with items including a personalised scrapbook full of foreign coins, games consoles, a watch and some jewellery, such as a gold doll pendant.

Police believe the items could have been stolen as far back as July last year, or as recently as just a few weeks ago, from within Southampton, and maybe as far as Eastleigh and the New Forest.

So, police are appealing for anyone within Hampshire, who has been a victim of a theft or a burglary, to look through the photographs as they may recognise something.

Police staff investigator Helen Mills, who is based at Southampton Central police station, said: “There’s a large amount of seized items and we would very much like to get it back to its rightful owners.

“We would like to appeal to Daily Echo readers that if they have family or friends who have suffered a burglary or a break-in to share these images in the hope of reuniting them with their possessions.”

If you recognise any of these items call PSI Mills or PC Marcus Morley by calling 101.

Proof of ownership will be required.
