A MAN had to be rescued by firefighters after getting stuck trying to climb over railings in Southampton.
He had been walking through Castle Square after a night out when he attempted to climb over a spiked fence as shortcut to get home.
A crew of four from St Mary’s station were called to help him down at 12.30am after he failed to jump down and panicked.
A spokesman for the crew said that the man had been drinking and had “only injured his pride” in the incident. He added: “The man had gotten himself wrapped around the top of the railings near a spike, he didn’t impale himself but he couldn’t get all the way over, we helped him and made sure he got home safely.”
