Protesters in Southampton
PROTESTERS took to the streets of Southampton today to make a stand against government cuts.
A group of 30 people held up banners and spoke to shoppers through a loud speaker encouraging them to sign a petition and chanting.
They oppose the austerity measures and say the voting age should be lowered to 16, the minimum wage should be raised to £10 per hour and there should be an end to zero hours contracts.
The action was led by campaigning group Youth Fight For Jobs to coincide with the Queen's speech which officially opened Parliament after David Cameron was elected into Downing Street for a second term.
Protesters chanted at the Bargate monument before making their way through the city centre.
