A MAN and woman have been arrested after a drugs raid in Southampton.

Hampshire Constabulary arrested the pair after executing a drugs warrant in Bedford Place.

The raid was part of Operation Fortress, a campaign to crack down on drug abuse across Hampshire and saw a quantity of drugs and cash seized from the property in the city centre.

The 23-year-old man and a 24-year-woman were arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B drug with intent to supply and the pair have been bailed pending enquiries until August 19.

Acting Sergeant Charlie Buckingham, said: “We encourage anyone who has information or concerns in relation to drug misuse to continue to report these concerns to their local Neighbourhood Policing Team. The supply and use of illegal drugs will not be tolerated in Southampton and we will continue to take robust action to disrupt such activity."

The Fortress campaign brings together police, councils, drug treatment and support services and voluntary groups to find long term solutions to restricting the supply of drugs, reducing demand and rebuilding communities.

Anyone concerned about drug-related crime where they live or living in fear or debt because of drugs can contact their Neighbourhood Policing team on 101, or call the anonymous Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
