A 13-YEAR-OLD boy is one of seven facing trial for the gang rape of a woman at a house in Southampton's inner city, which was filmed, jurors heard.

The alleged victim had been out visiting two friends and was on her way home when she found herself in a subway in Derby Road.

On the opening day of the trial, prosecutor Simon Foster told Southampton Crown Court that it was there that she met Mihaita Palie.

From there, they went back to a house in Derby Road where she went into two bedrooms, the court heard, one of which had a couple of double beds and a sofa bed.

The court heard how the victim was subjected to a four-hour ordeal which was filmed and jurors were warned that they would be shown the footage as part of the trial and it forms a major part of the evidence against the seven defendants.

Mr Foster said: "In this room were these defendants and they subsequently subjected her to rape and other sexual abuse as described in the indictment."

Mr Foster told the jurors that the 20-year-old woman was in the room for something in the region of four hours and part of what happened was filmed by another defendant, Cosmin Nicut, on his mobile phone.

He then warned them: "You will see about 20 minutes of that footage. She was naked as were the others."

Judge Peter Ralls QC heard that afterwards she walked to a telephone box in St Mary's Road. It was about 3.15am, on January 16.

Mr Foster added: "She telephoned the police. They came and found her. She told them about the address in which she had spent a few hours.

"The defendants were arrested and she later gave a three hour account in interview."

Following his short opening to the case, jurors and court officials travelled by coach to the the scene of the alleged attack.

Palie, 33, Nicut, 20, Octavian Militaru, 37, Ion Matei, 41, Nicolae Ghinea, 21, Radu-Florin Panciuc, 21 and a 13-year-old boy face a four week trial.

Palie is charged with rape and attempted rape, Nicut is accused of two count of rape and one of causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.

Militariu faces two counts of rape, and the others face one charge each of rape.

They have denied all the charges.
