FOXTROT lessons and wartime music were among the activities on offer for residents at a Hampshire care home as they stepped back in time.

Netley Court, in Netley, marked National Care Home Open Day with a day themed around celebrating the local contribution to the war effort.

Care home staff had spent the morning transforming communal areas into Second World War-related rooms such as the land army room, army base and officers’ mess.

Dance Studio held dancing lessons in the garden followed by Reunited, who put on a musical show with songs from the 1940s.

The home also welcomed representatives from the British Red Cross who put on an information stall, representatives from the British Army who served tea and coffee alongside Eastleigh Mayor Jane Welsh and more than 70 members of the local community.

Staff at Netley Court, which is part of Hartford Care, embraced the theme by dressing up in wartime style costumes.
