THEY are cherished items that she kept in pride of place.

But now they’ve been stolen from a young Hampshire woman’s home – leaving her heartbroken.

Karina Chegwidden was only out of her house for a matter of hours, and was so tired after getting back that she went straight to bed.

After waking up the next day the 20-year-old noticed that her phone charger had moved, along with a number of other items.

And suddenly she was hit by the horrifying realisation that she had been burgled.

Then she discovered that two of her most prized possessions had been taken.

Karina, who lives on Sandhurst Road, Southampton, was upset to find that a box containing the ashes of her beloved bunny rabbit Holly had been stolen.

Also taken was a wishing well that had been given to her by her late grandad.

Daily Echo:

She said: “I was just devastated.

“We had to go outside and look but didn’t find anything.

“I don’t know why they took my rabbit’s ashes box because there was no reason for them to take it – it’s just a little wooden little box.

“I’m upset about my grandad’s wishing well because that’s the only thing I had that was his.”

Karina went out at about 7.30am on Saturday, August 22, and returned home at about 9.30pm that evening. She said that the burglary must have taken place while she was out.

Now Katrina, pictured below, hopes that someone in the area might have seen someone acting suspiciously.

Daily Echo:

She also believes that someone in her neighbourhood might have information on what happened.

And Karina’s sister Heidi said that other nearby residents had items stolen from their homes on the same day.

She said: “She’s devastated about the sentimental stuff.

“Her dad bought her a little box and it had a plaque on it and its ashes were in it.

“The only thing we are thinking is that maybe they thought it was jewellery.”
