A HAMPSHIRE postman is hoping his next delivery will be a No.1 hit single.
Darren Haines, who works as a postman in Twyford, is hoping his lyrical talents will see him crowned UK songwriting champion.
The 48-year-old who lives in Bitterne has made it through to the semi finals of the competition with ‘Move Your Body’.
The song has a special Southampton connection as it is sung by Charley Macaulay, from Millbrook, and was produced in Mutant Lab Studios in Bargate Street.
It is not the first time Darren’s creative talents have impressed.
In 2013 he made it through to the semi-finals of the International Song Writing competition with another song he penned called ‘You’ll Be Sorry’.
Darren, said: “The more I do it the more creative I get.
"The thing that makes Move Your Body special is it is the song features a local singer, local producer and local songwriter.
“I was delighted when I found out I made it through, it feels like all the hard work has paid off.”
“It’s great hearing the final product, from when you get a tune in your head in the beginning to it being produced.
It sounds so much better when its been mixed and mastered and worked on by professionals.”
He will find out if Move Your Body has reached the final in November.
