EMERGENCY services were called to deal with a homeless man who had set a fire outside a Hampshire shopping centre.
Firefighters from were called along with police to the entrance of the Bargate Shopping Centre in Southampton, near to the Bargate gatehouse of the city walls, where a homeless man had lit a fire of clothing, bedding and paper to try and keep warm.
There was concern that the fire could spread to buildings.
The crew from Redbridge put it out and the man was moved on following the call out at around 10.30pm on Monday.
