PLANS to tear down a home in Devonshire Road, Southampton and replace it with a block of five flats will go before planning chiefs.

The city council’s planning and rights of way panel will meet tonight to discuss Golden Angel’s plans for the three-storey building.

Twenty representations about the plans have been made by residents living near the site, with ward councillors Sarah Bogle and John Noon also referring it to the panel.

The objectors’ concerns include fears that the proposed new building would be “excessive” and out of keeping with its surroundings.

However the panel have been recommended to approve the plans at the meeting.
