THE film which prompted one of Prince's most famous ballads, Purple Rain, will be returning to Odeon Southampton tomorrow for one night only - with all profits being donated to leading mental health charity, Mind.

Prince fans will be able to celebrate the life of the late, great star whilst watching his first acting debut in the iconic 1984 film.

The ground-breaking film - starring Prince in his famously glam rock attire - sees the star at just 26 years old as 'The Kid', a talented but troubled frontman of his Minneapolis-based band The Revolution.

  • The screening will take place at 8.15pm and tickets are on sale now from odeon.co.uk

Purple Rain stars Prince alongside his on-screen love interest Apollonia Kotero, and tells the tale of a young musician, tormented by an abusive situation at home. He must contend with a rival singer, a burgeoning romance, and his own dissatisfied band, as his star begins to rise.
