THEY are the Hampshire singers competing to become the stars of the West End.

Now both have been put through the Let It Shine’s live shows and within touching distance of a life-changing musical role.

Anthony Sahota, of Bassett, and Ryan Butterworth, a former Brockenhurst College pupil, will be going head-to-head after Saturday night’s breathtaking show.

The BBC talent series follows the hunt for singers to perform in a new stage musical based on the songs of Take That.

The winners will perform in the production when it hits the stage in the West End.

This week the top 40 boys from the auditions were split into groups of eight, who took to the stage in all singing, all dancing performances with some familiar faces.

The boys sought to prove their worth as they collaborated with some of the UK’s most-loved artists, including Busted, Beverley Knight, Melanie C, Olly Murs and Kaiser Chiefs.

As the pair enter the live rounds, their bands have been whittled down into just five and they will be hoping their respective groups have what it takes to reach the final on February 25, when Gary Barlow and the judges will find five boys who will create a band to star in the theatre production.

21-year-old Ryan, who played at the Talking Heads in Southampton last month, will perform next week in band Driven, whilst former Peter Symonds College student Anthony will take to the stage as part of Neon Panda.

Episode six of Let It Shine will air at 6.55pm on BBC 1 on Saturday (February 11).
