A 'FANTASTIC and emotional' video filmed in a Southampton shopping centre has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times.

The clip, posted on Dan Cooper Music's Facebook page, shows a woman singing and being joined by scores of others at Westquay in Southampton.

Dan Cooper, a singer and vocal coach and one of the men behind the flashmob, said: "The response to the video has been incredible and we really didn’t expect it to be seen by so many people!

"Myself and Jack White run lots of different choirs across Southampton and we were approached by a friend who wanted to create a video all about unity.

"We agreed that pulling all the choirs we work with, together, would be a great example of unity. We are also strong believers that singing and music is a powerful tool that can help improve mental (and physical) health and bring people together.

"The flashmob features singers from Love Soul Choir (an auditioned performance choir), Sing Now Choir (a non-auditioned community choir) and SingForce (an organisation which provide workplace choirs to businesses)."

Dan added: "Once a year, myself and Jack bring all these choirs together for a choir collaboration show called One Sound which this year is on 29th April this year at Turner Sims in Southampton. This show sold out in 2 weeks. We decided the flashmob would be a great opportunity for all the groups ahead of this years One Sound show."

The six-minute clip has been watched more than 340,000 times and captured the imagination of social media users.

One wrote: "That was so amazing - thank you" while another said "Goosebumps. Amazing what singing does for people."
