A man has died after he plunged from a Southampton bridge.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Maybray King Way at about 2.30pm.
A woman at the scene said: "[People] coming in said there was a man lying in the middle of the road with blood everywhere.
"Paramedics were pumping his chest and giving him injections.
"There was no car nearby so he doesn't appear to have been hit by a vehicle. He must have jumped or fallen from the bridge.
"It's really sad."
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: "Officers were called at 2.21pm to reports of a man suffering injuries after falling from a bridge on Maybray King Way in Southampton.
"The 60-year-old, from Southampton, was taken to hospital for treatment where he was pronounced dead.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
"Next of kin have been informed."
Southampton City Council's travel social media account described the incident as "serious" and warned motorists to expect delays.
