BEER lovers can get their fill at a drinks extravaganza in a special location this weekend.

Drinkers will raise their glasses at the new-look Southampton Beer Festival at none other than St Mary's Stadium.

The event organised by Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) will take place at the home of the Saints on June 23 and 24.

It will feature up to 70 cask real ales, showcasing examples of beers brewed in the city and in the county as well as national beers.

A range of ciders and perries will also be available.

This year the event organiser has promised a “new look” to the affair as the festival will feature a new international bottled beer bar, provided by Southampton bar and brasserie, Belgium and Blues.

More than 10 local performers are also expected to entertain participants, as organiser CAMRA has teamed up with the Frog and Frigate and The Brook to provide guests with musical entertainment.

During the event participants will have the opportunity to sip their drinks with their friends and enjoy the hot and cold food that will be available.

Local businesses such as the Dancing Man and Southampton’s newest micro brewery, The London Road Brew House, will showcase their beers while stalls of Oddfellows Chocolate Ltd and Olives and Things will be hosted.

This year the festival is also coinciding with the celebration of Hopback’s 30th anniversary, who are sponsoring the festival T-shirts.

Thousands of beers enthusiasts flocked to Southampton in the past to enjoy the event that celebrated its twentieth anniversary last year.

A new logo which aims to link Bargate, the iconic symbol of Southampton with the pint glass has also been created this year and will be featured on staff T-shirt as well as tickets, and the posters.

The event will take place from 11.30am to 4pm and from 6.30pm to 11pm.

Tickets cost £7 on Saturday, £5 on Friday afternoon and £10 on Friday evening. They can be bought at Bitter Virtue, The Guide Dog, Belgium and Blues, and the Dancing Man in Southampton, Ebenezer’s in Hythe and the Tipsy Pig in Romsey or by visitng www.southamptonbeerfestival.org.uk/2017/ticket.
