A SALES advisor acted as if "possessed by the devil" as she hit workers at Southampton General Hospital, a court heard.

Superdrug employee Alishia Springall assaulted and spat at hospital members as well as swinging punches at nurses, whilst she recovered from a night out in Southampton.

When the 20-year-old got in at 6am on March 10, her mother was so horrified by her outbursts she contacted police who advised her to take her daughter to hospital.

Prosecutor, Sital Mond told the court that once Springall had been told she could leave the hospital at 11am she became "rude and disruptive" with security being called to escort off the premises.

She said: "She began to become abusive and started swinging punches at a nurse. She was taken to the hospital's accident and emergency waiting room and them started kicking Hannah Sharman in the stomach.

"She was restrained on the ground and pretended to go to sleep but was then escorted out of the hospital."

Ms Mond added: "She then spat at Robin Bryant, another hospital member when outside...he said he could feel the spit going down his left cheek."

The court heard that Springall was a former employee at Dominos Pizza, but was asked to leave the business earlier this year.

Mitigating, Stephen Piercy told the court that Springall had taken "a small amount of cocaine" and hardly drank during the night out.

He said: "Her mother said she was violent, angry and seemed like she was being possessed by the devil.

"By 11am they are trying to get rid of her. It is pretty clear her behaviour was not normal. That horrified her mother and it horrified the defendant who couldn't recall any of the incident."

Mr Piercy added: "She has genuine regret over this this and tell me that she has not taken any substance or drunk since the incident."

Springall, of Cleveland Road, Southampton, was given a 12-month community order and ordered to carry out 60 hours unpaid work.

Her court case was heard again after she breached a conditional police caution, which ordered her to pay £150 compensation to the victims as well as take part in an alcohol awareness course. She did not take part in the course.
