A MAJOR student accommodation scheme in Southampton is now complete, ahead of schedule.

The state-of-the-art development, which houses 526 rooms, is located on Portswood Road near to the University of Southampton campus on the former B&Q site.

Purchased by property developer Sladen Estates and Peveril Securities in 2015, planning permission was secured for a purpose-built student accommodation development.

The building comprises of 423 individual rooms and 103 separate studios.

Construction director at Sladen Estates, Charles Fish, said: “This is a really high quality and attractive student development, which fits perfectly with the existing surroundings.

“Southampton is increasingly a thriving student city with demand for modern accommodation and the Hampton Square building provides exactly that.

“We were very pleased to deliver the scheme ahead of time, ready for students to move in this academic year.”

Architect Church Lukas designed the scheme and it was built by contractor Bowmer and Kirkland. Sladen Estates and Peveril Securities were advised by Oli Buckland at CBRE.

Charles added: “As well as providing state-of-the-art student accommodation, the scheme also includes a host of communal facilities including a gym, movie room and quiet spaces.

“Students also benefit from cycle storage areas, onsite parking, two retail units, and a sunken amphitheatre for student recreational use.”
