Award-winning artist and writer J.R. Carpenter will perform poetry from her new work, This is a Picture of Wind at the Mettricks Old Town Café on Thursday.
This free event is in conjunction with the experimental poetry series, Entropics which will host events in Southampton through February and March.
This is a Picture of Wind is a compilation of short texts that explores the destruction caused by the winter storms in Somerset and Devon in 2014. Designed to be viewed on phones, the pages respond to live weather data so will appear differently each time it is visited.
She says: “This work attempts to call attention to climate change”.
J.R. Carpenter was awarded the New Media Writing Prize in 2016 for The Gathering Cloud and is an writer-in-residence at the Archives Nationales in Paris.
