LAND towards the rear of a former pub will not be turned into new homes after plans were refused by city council officials.
Developers had earmarked the site at the back of where the Stoneham Arms, on Bassett Green Road, Swaythling had stood to become two new detached homes.
The properties would have had four-bedrooms each, with associated refuse and cycle storage.
However, Southampton City Council said the proposals would offer a "poor residential environment" for tennants should the homes be built.
