PLANS to build a new home in Bevois would be "out of character" for the area, planning officials say.
Land towards the rear of 78 Dover Street had been earmarked for a new three-bedroom home to built, along with associated bin and cycle storage following the demolition of existing garages.
However, Southampton City Council refused the plans stating the development would be "harmful to the local character".
