A KEY Southampton festival has announced another act for its August line-up.

Organisers at the third Southampton Pride say they are "so excited" to have The Cheeky Girls play at the third annual event.

Billed as "the south's fastest growing Pride event" more than 15,000 LGBT revellers are expected to take to the city centre for the one day event - which organisers say is expected to bring more than £500k into the local economy.

Now the Romanian duo will join a line-up of top pop acts when they take to the Guildhall Square stage, headed up by boy band and X Factor 2011 trio Union J.

Organiser Danny Langrish-Beard said: "'We are so excited to have the cheeky girls join Union J on the 25th August. They will really add to the fun day for everyone and hopefully be a bit cheeky, cheeky."

And he pledged a "bigger" event this year, with more activities for children and a bigger kids' area.

He added: "This year's pride will be even bigger. There will be lots more to do for children with a bigger children's area. The outside stage will have lots of music with live acts and DJ's. Inside the Guildhall there will be acoustic music and other entertainment.

"And it's still a free event for all the family."

Organisers are on the lookout for volunteers to help fundraise and help on the day.

Last year money raised at the event was donated to charity groups Chrysalis and Break Out Youth.

The Romanian twin sisters' Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum) has sold more than 1.2m records - but in January 2004 the song was voted the worst pop song of all time by Channel 4 viewers.

Last year's event saw 80s pop songstrels Sinitta and Sonia headline.
