Children help box up some festive cheer

YOUNGSTERS from a Southampton school are helping deliver Christmas spirit to poor children across the world.

Pupils from Tanners Brook Junior School in Millbrook collected 83 shoeboxes filled with sweets, toys and other gifts for this year’s Operation Christmas Child, which sees millions of poor families receive presents from people in the UK.

The school was helped by Shoezone in Shirley to get behind the appeal which this year will see thousands of boxes from Hampshire sent to Africa for the first time and handed out to children in Zimbabwe.

Anyone interested in donating a shoebox can get more information at operationchristmaschild.org or contact Margaret Griffin on 07982 804415.
