THE giant Oscar-style statue that was stolen from the Daily Echo Curtain Call awards ceremony has been found.

The 7ft golden figure that had been snatched from the event at the De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel in the early hours of Saturday morning, made it across the car park to the main entrance of The Quays Swimming and Diving Complex.

Staff at the leisure centre were left bemused when they arrived at work to find the £1,000 statue laying across the doorway.

Unsure what it was the employees just stood it up in the foyer, where it has stood throughout the weekend, greeting visitors as they walked in. But after reading about the stolen figure in the Daily Echo, one reader called to reveal its location.

It was worth £1000 as it took six staff members to move the cardboard statue!
