Prince Andrew flies into Riverside Park in Southampton

Prince Andrew Prince Andrew

PRINCE ANDREW flew into Hampshire for a visit to the county - and parked up in a Southampton park.

The Royal helicopter landed in the middle of Riverside Park in the city and remained there while His Royal Highness went about his official duties.

Two PCSO officers from Hampshire police were left in charge of ensuring no one went near the helicopter after it was left there this morning at 10am.

The aircraft was certainly turning heads as walkers and residents came to take a closer look.

Darren Naylor of Manor Farm Road said: “I saw some police activity earlier and I thought a helicopter might be landing. I remember him doing the same thing on a previous visit. My son will be sorry he missed this, he loves helicopters.”

Nah, that was Chris Huhne's wife.

Incidentally, if he'd tried parking a helicopter next to England's other great cruise terminal at Liverpool, he'd have probably returned to find someone had pinched the wheels and the engine.

Yet again Prince Andrew wastes our hard earned pennies by flying in a helicopter when there is a perfectly good train station at St Deny's 1.5 miles away from this park. When will he learn.....?

Swaythling Station is even closer, the Royal Train could have dropped him off.

The Pier is quite close too, the Royal Train could have dropped him off.

I was afraid he'd try landing on the new helipad at the General. I wouldn't have been surprised. Lazy so and so!

Did he not have the money to chuck it down at the airport or more to the point would it not have been cheaper by car?

Another jolly for the useless parasite.
An airport and train stations close by, but he has to land a helicopter in the middle of a park, probably the only place big enough for his misplaced ego.
With so many job cuts happening why can’t this waste of space be made redundant along with the rest of this clan?

The headline "Prince Andrew flies into Riverside Park in Southampton" conjures up two possible images.
.
One: A prince flying in on a jetpack.
.
Two: The helicopter crashing, literally flying directly into the park.

Why does the thought of a quailified pilot landing his helicopter on a helipad scare you so much?

2 PCSO's eh? And what would they have done if someone had 'touched' the helicoptor? They have no power unless I stand corrected.

It doesn't scare me. I know he's a qualified pilot and flew in the Falklands. But anyone other than Air Ambulance using the new helipad would be an utter insult. Anyway, dolomiteman - lighten up!
