A TOTAL of 2,000 homes were left without water across Hampshire when a main burst early this morning Residents in Millbrook and Redbridge in Southampton as well as homes in nearby Totton were affected when the main burst on Redbridge Road at 3am.

Traffic heading westbound off the Redbridge Road and towards the roundabout was forced to queue as one lane was blocked off for emergency repairs.

Water supply was returned to many homes by 7.30am and those who experience a discoloured supply, which Southern Water said is not harmful, are being told it will run clear when the tap is turned on.
