A man was tied up at knife point by two men who mistakenly broke into his home at night looking for a stash of drugs.

The man, who had been asleep, was restrained with gaffer tape by the pair who demanded to know where the marijuana was.

Police said one of them had a large knife.

The frightened man told them that he didn't have any and they looked around the house in Wilton Avenue before returning briefly to the bedroom to admit they had got the wrong house. They then left.

Police said the 20-year-old victim wasn't injured but was left shaken up by the ordeal, which happened just before 3am on Monday.

The man managed to get the tape off and alert one of his housemates who called the police.

He described his first attacker as black, 6ft 2 inches tall and of stocky build.

The man was wearing a black beanie was not pulled all the way over head. He wore a black waist length jacket that appeared to puff out slightly and black combat style trousers. He spoke with a possible London accent.

The second attacker was described as of mixed race or lighter black, 5ft 10 inches tall and of stocky build with a couple of days hair growth on his face. He spoke English with a foreign accent and wore dark clothing.

The victim told police he was holding a large pallet-type knife in his right hand with a round edge at the end of the blade such that a chef would use for spreading icing on a cake.

Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident.
