Hampshire police investigating armed raid on the White Swan pub in Southampton
8:20am Tuesday 12th June 2012 in Southampton
Samuri sword gang target pub
A GANG armed with samurai swords threatened staff as they held up a Hampshire pub and escaped with thousands of pounds.
Workers ran to safety when three masked men smashed their way into the White Swan at Mansbridge, Southampton, late at night.
The landlord, who was confronted by one of the men demanding he empty the safe, needed hospital treatment for facial injuries.
It is the third armed raid on a pub in the area in the past three months – and detectives are not ruling out the possibility that the same gang are responsible.

Are these swords that you can but at those shops for weirdo's that like immitation guns and swords and similar items? Is it about time the Government got those shops closed down or prevented from selling dangerous weapons.

they could have been ninja. They have similar swords to Samurai and in the heat of the moment the landlord could have been mistaken. Better the police look for ninja and samurai, just to be on the safe side.

It is not the sharpness of the sword (samurai swords are not razor shape) it is the way you use them that makes them a dangerous weapon.
I have several real Samurai swords as well as some imitation samurai and broad swords but have never felt the urge to use them for robbing pubs or shops!
Like guns or baseball bats it is not the weapon that is a danger it is the nutter who is holding it.

Straight bladed swords are available to any adult regardless of whether they are handforged or not.

Georgem wrote:That's wrong. It is perfectly legal to sell swords in the UK to any adults without the need for registration, licences or criminal record checks. Curved swords must be handforged to be legal but straight bladed swords do not have to be.
