Ligaya Nursing
A SOUTHAMPTON woman is appealing against her conviction for failing to look after a pensioner found in squalid conditions.
Following a trial at the city Crown Court, Ligaya Nursing, pictured, 61, of Portsmouth Road, Woolston, was convicted of wilful neglect of the 79-yearold woman under the Mental Capacity Act.
She was fined £10,000 with four months’ imprisonment in default of payment, told to pay costs and compensation totalling £5,500, and must carry out 100 hours of unpaid work for the community.
However, defence barrister Sarah Jones confirmed to the Daily Echo that she would be taking her case to appeal.
