PEOPLE travelling in Winchester will be helped by grants from the local enterprise partnership.
A grant of £55,000 will help improve walking, cycling and accessibility in Winchester.
Schemes include improvements to Westgate and Western schools in Fulflood, pedestrian access to the train station, and a crossing in Upper High Street.
Free Wi-Fi will also be provided for bus passengers in the Winchester area, which will help business people make use of travelling time.
The money comes from the Sustainable Transport pot of £4.3 million.
Geoff French, chairman of Enterprise M3 Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “Investing in sustainable transport schemes, such as pedestrian walkways and cycle routes, helps reduce the economic cost of congestion which is extremely valuable.
“Giving commuters access to Wi-Fi on public transport enables them to work and access vital information on the move.
“This investment further develops the region’s vital infrastructure and will help support even more economic growth.”
