TICKETS for the 16th Winchester Festival of the Arts are now on sale.

The organisers say they are delighted to introduce a varied programme across different arts genres.

At the launch in April chairman of the festival Tim Guerrier said: “Although specialist festivals in the Winchester district now abound, there is still very much a place for a general festival of all the arts to a general audience: a week or so of good music, literature, current affairs, poetry and the visual arts, not forgetting the importance of encouraging the next generation – from the pupils in primary schools to young musicians about to begin their professional careers.”

The line up includes concerts from young musicians, local groups, talks in literature, art, history, media and science, and from famous names including the Poet Laureate Dame Carol Ann Duffy.

Art work from secondary school pupils across Winchester will be on show at the Schools Exhibition.

Tickets are available from the Winchester Cathedral box office by calling 01962 857276 or going online at winchesterfestival.co.uk, where the festival programme is also available.
