A PIANO-playing dog, a goldfish-juggling unicyclist and a mechanical whale.

Just some of the many, many acts that have flocked to Winchester over the weekend for the highly-anticipated annual Hat Fair – which has seen no less than 5,000 people turn out for the entertainment.

Not content with the usual live bands and occasional play, the 2015 fair has welcomed all manner of street performers which started yesterday and continues tomorrow.

Parchment Street has seen entertainers from Swing Time this afternoon but will soon turn into the city’s go-to street party this evening, as crowds have already begun to pack the bunting-clad road.

Other acts have included Avanti who performed their “quintessentially British street theatre”, throughout this afternoon.

Fletcher the Butcher used the theatrical setting of the Kingsgate book shop to read Armadin to his audience and the Amazing Mr Fish presented his circus and mime acts atop a 10ft unicycle – while balancing a mock goldfish on one of his feet.

There have been puppeteers and several invisible theatricals and it wasn’t just the grounds of the Cathedral that hosted the entertainment.

Street-mimes and circus acts performed at Winchester Train Station and even outside Winchester Crown Court – which included a much-needed tub to escape the blistering heat.
