SUMMER may be all but over but there's still plenty to do in Hampshire with your free time.

The Daily Echo has come up with ten suggestions for fun family activities this weekend:

  • Romsey Show, Broadlands Park, Romsey, Saturday

Celebrating the best of British farming, events include cattle and sheep competing in livestock classes and a range of horse based activities.

As well as dog shows and falconry displays, there is also plenty for those who love food.

This year’s main ring attraction is stunt rider Jason Smythe’s “Adrenaline Tour” and a celebration of 100 years of the WI.

  • Upper Test Valley Vintage Club Working Weekend, Danebury Road, Longstock, Saturday-Sunday

Vintage vehicle enthusiasts will be demonstrating farming methods from a bygone age this weekend (September 12-13).

The Upper Test Valley Vintage Club is holding annual Working Weekend at Danebury Road, Longstock, near Stockbridge (SO20 6HZ)

The event will also feature vintage cars and motorcycles, a car boot sale. 

Entry is £5 (under 12s free) and the event runs from 10am to late each day.

Proceeds will go to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

The largest unaltered Victorian space in Southampton. Ancient relics from the Augustinian Priory at St Deny will be on show, plus a World War One display and an extensive collection of second hand books and a children’s trail.

This is one of several free Heritage Open Days across Hampshire this weekend.

  • Red Arrows, Museum of Army Flying/Southampton Boat Show, Saturday

Red Arrow fans in Hampshire could catch the famous display team twice on Saturday.

The jets are due over Southampton Boatshow at 3.40pm but before that they are making an appearance at the Museum of Army Flying in Middle Wallop when they will perform a flypast at 10.58am.

During the day the museum is hosting a private event 'Wounded Warriors at Wallop' in conjunction with Aerobility, The Air League, the Army Air Corps and the Historic Aircraft Flight Trust which will provide flight experiences to wounded soldiers from the local area, such as those from Tedworth House.

Various static aircraft will also be on the ground including a P51-Mustang and at 4.30pm there will be a flypast by a Vulcan bomber.

 

  • Close Encounters tour and tea, Winchester Cathedral, Saturday

Walk the Inner Close in the footsteps of Benedictine monks and explore over 1000 years of history. The tour will be followed by a cream tea in the Refectory. Walks starts 2.30pm. Tickets: £10

  • All aboard the Waverley, Southampton, September 12-20

The world’s last sea-going paddle steamer Waverley sets sail from Southampton with opportunities to visit Portsmouth, Yarmouth or steam right round the Isle of Wight!

Prices start at £17 for adults (children under-18s half price andunder-5s travel free).

Saturday: Annual river float competition on the river at Bishopstoke Beach, opposite the Bishopstoke Memorial Hall where reidents can make their own decorated creations to float in the river.

Judging at 11.30am.  Plastic duck racing at Toby Carvery pub in Fair Oak Road at 1pm.

Sunday: Carnival - Parade gathers at the bottom of Underwood Road from 11am, with the parade due to start at 1pm.  

Procession will come along Underwood Road, Hamilton Road, Sedgwick Road, West Drive and Spring Lane before finishing at Glebe Meadow Recreation Ground off Portal Road, where there will be a carnival fete with arena activities and stalls including refreshments from 2pm to 5pm.  

  • Chesil Theatre, Chesil Street, Winchester, Saturday - Sunday

Visitors can hear about set construction, costume design, lighting designs and special effects as well as the history of theatre and church.

The theatre is open Saturday and Sunday 10pm-4pm.

This is another of the free Heritage Open Days available across Hampshire this weekend.

 

The Square in Wickham will be closed to traffic and instead filled with market stalls selling local produce, gifts and food and free entertainment including cookery demonstrations, a bouncy castle, children’s crafts and live music.

A free park and ride will run from Westlands Farm all day.

 

  • Fair Oak Fun dog show Allington Lane, 11am to 3pm, Sunday

A variety of activities including scurry-long jump, novelty classes, organised by the Fair Oak Dog Training Group.
