POLICE are appealing for witnesses after thieves stole thousands of pounds worth of cigarettes from a Winchester petrol station.
Two men forced entry to the BP garage shop in St Cross Road at 5.30am on Saturday, stashing £6,000 worth of cigarettes into garden waste bags.
They left through an alley between St Cross Road and Kingsgate Road.
Detectives believe motorists or residents may have seen the men.
Anyone who has any information or saw anything suspicious is asked to call Detective Constable Paul Barry in the Northern Investigation Team at Basingstoke on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
