PLANS have been announced to build homes on an industrial park.

Huxley UK Limited want to regenerate the site on The Dean, Alresford, with properties of mixed sizes.

They say they will engage with the local community as initial proposals are drawn up.

Winchester City Council has earmarked the site as part of Local Plan Part Two and Huxley say it is situated in an ideal location for additional housing.

The scheme will be designed to reflect existing buildings in the town.

The firm has not yet indicated how many homes it hopes to build at the site.

Company owner, Paul Huxley, said: “Since we came to Alresford in the 1970’s, we have traded successfully over the years.

"However, after we sold our manufacturing business in 2000, the site was much too large for our own needs. Since then, we have let some of the buildings, but this has become increasingly difficult and a large part of our site has been empty for a long time.

“We believe it’s the right time to redevelop the site to assist in meeting local housing needs. Re-developing this site with high-quality residential properties would achieve this, while simultaneously shielding the green-belt from development.

“We are committed to keeping the local community fully involved in proceedings. In the coming weeks we will be looking to discuss our proposals with local residents, businesses, councillors and third party groups as part of the consultation process.”
