IT WAS one of the biggest parties of the year.

Hundreds of people headed to Winchester for the Party in the Park which had scores of activities taking place.

The line-up of included a Skatepark Jam run by Maverick Industries.

Maverick, who build skateparks, constructed the Stanmore site in 2014 and gave away prizes as part of the event which saw tens of BMX riders and skateboarders take part.

A DJ was also on hand to provide the music for those competing and spectating.

Elsewhere at the event in Somers Close, Stanmore, visitors were treated to a range of musical and dance performances including Zumba, belly dancing, Nepalese dancers, a marching band and solo artists.

The family-friendly event also featured a petting farm, fun fair, zorbing, children’s go-karting, circus skills workshops and much more.

Local businesses, organisations, voluntary and community groups had stalls around the site promoting their goods, activities and services.

Winchester Science Centre also provided an inflatable planetarium.

Portfolio holder for environment, health and wellbeing at Winchester City Council, Frank Pearson, said: “After the success of events held since 2011 I’m pleased that this year returned with a multicultural theme of music and dance.

"The council is grateful to our sponsors for helping fund this fun-packed event.”
