THREE years of hard work exploded into a riot of creativity at Winchester School of Art.

Some 30 students on the fashion and textile design course showed off their final work in a catwalk show.

The imaginative menswear, womenswear and knitwear on show ranged from the practical to those perhaps for, ahem, ‘special occasions’.

There was humour on show including Madge Yang Cao’s work on the theme of construction complete with jaunty plastic bollards for hats.

Others featured witch-like headwear that looked a little Harry Potter-ish.

Another outfit, by Joao Pena Monteiro, featured material that billowed out like a parachute slowing down an jet on a runway.

Many of the clothes had a strong oriental minimal theme including Sophie Baldwin’s kimonoes.

Striking a white iciness were Tong Zhu’s creations adorned with pointy hoods.

Half of the students on the course are from China or Hong Kong, showing the crucial importance of the influx from east Asia in supporting the courses at Winchester.

Around a third of the students already have their own websites.
