A NEW Argos digital store has opened at a major supermarket in Hampshire.

Argos has moved from The Brooks Shopping Centre to Sainsbury’s Badger Farm store in Winchester.

The move comes after Sainsbury’s acquired Home Retail Group, which owns Argos and is part of its strategy to close certain stand-alone branches and move them onto existing supermarket sites.

The group made a similar move in Andover earlier this year, leaving the town centre to move into an out-of-town Sainsbury’s.

The Winchester unit will offer customers a range of products for immediate pickup and a further 20,000 can be ordered to collect in store.

An extra 20,000 products can also be ordered for home delivery.

Head of property communications at Sainsbury’s David Mills said: “We are delighted to welcome Argos and its team to our Badger Farm supermarket. The new store is great for customers, who are looking for easier, more convenient ways to shop and we’re looking forward to feedback from customers.”
