POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was killed in a collision on the A272 near Winchester yesterday.

Police were called to the scene of the collison involving Yamaha motorcycle, a grey Land Rover and, a blue Skoda Fabia at 12.40pm, on the A272, north of Morestead.

A 45 year-old man from Winchester was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The A272 was closed for several hours from the junction with the A31, near Morn Hill, up past Cheesefoot Head until the road which leads south to Owslebury.

There was also a second closure further along at the junction with A32 at West Meon Hut which was in place for HGVs.

Officers are investigating the exact circumstances of the collision and would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened, or who saw any of the vehicles prior to the incident.

Police would also like to speak to any motorists who may have any dash cam footage from the scene.
