PLANS to replace a garage, shed and green house with a new oak building have been thrown out by city planners.
The proposals, in Peach Hill Lane, Crawley, were rejected by planning officers at Winchester City Council due to the scale of the plans, that would "d have an impact on the enjoyment and visual amenities of the
countryside from the public realm and public right of way (PROW)".
Helen Parvin, historic environment officer, said: "The collective effect of the proposed building is considered to be detrimental to the wider character of the conservation area as the replacement is significantly larger and more visually dominant than the structures it will replace.
"The view of the historic thatched roof of Greenways will be all but obscured by the pitch and bulk of the proposed garage when walking north along the PROW."
The proposal was a resubmission of planning application 17/01767/HOU.
