A MAN died despite the efforts of his flatmate to revive him, an inquest heard.
Winchester Coroner’s Court heard how Wayne Davies, 52, stopped breathing at his home in Harwood Place, Winchester, at around 4.30pm on October 21 last year.
In a statement flatmate Andrew Wye said he and the ambulance crew both gave Mr Davies cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but he died.
A post-mortem concluded the cause of death was ketoacidosis – a condition associated with diabetes and alcohol abuse, where the body burns fat for energy instead of glucose, making the blood acidic – and congestive heart failure, with chronic alcoholism a contributory factor.
Deputy coroner for central Hampshire Simon Burge recorded a verdict of death due to natural causes.
