Residents discuss motocross misery at meeting
AROUND 60 people attended a public meeting to hear about the impact of a Hampshire motocross circuit now it has won permanent planning permission.
After nearly a decade of controversy operators can use the track at Three Maids Hill near Winchester all year round. Racing restarted on June 17, the meeting heard.
Cllr Stephen Godfrey, chairman of the Three Maids Motocross Action Group, said: “Residents are reacquainting themselves with the noise and the impact on their lives and some are finding it very difficult to do that. There is a lot of anguish. We are lucky the weather has been favourable with blustery winds and quite damp so no dust problems.”
Winchester City Council approved year-round motocross on the site in March.

I assume then they won't mind kids hanging around on street corners near where they live because 'they have nothing to do'.

You buy a house for £300,000. They put a motor cycle racing track next to it. Value drops to £150,000 if you can sell it at all. Get it ?
Two sides to every story, Billy. You know that.

Cinemas, sports and social clubs, dance halls, playgrounds, etc.- that's recreation for the locals.
Only a tiny minority of the national population are interested in motorbike racing, compared to football, golf, tennis, snooker and even darts. Just look at the TV coverage.
I think that covers "both sides of the story", don't you? And I am one who would love to see a speedway track in Southampton. But it ain't gonna happen for the reasons I've given.

Cinemas, sports and social clubs, dance halls, and playgrounds are governed by laws, and do not produce the level of noise that motorcycles do, otherwise they get closed down.
Minirobs...I am not allowed to CALL you a c***, but I am allowed to THINK you are a c***. Therefore, minrobs, I think you are a c*** ! You see, anyone can twist words and meaning for effect, if they want.
still cant wait for the night club to open...oooh lots of noise....within the law of course...I take it you do want a nightclub next to your house as you dont seem to object to this and openly encourage it ?
or is it ok only NIMBY?
on another note if you wish to think i'm a c*** or say i'm a c*** feel free to do so its a free country where people can biuld motocross tracks and make lots of noise....:)

BillyTheKid wrote:That provides a very constructive criticism! Dozens of teenage oafs, seems to me that your only interested in yourself. The sport has 1000's of participants from all walks of life, from 6 to 66 and I can assure you the majority have much more sence than you! Your house may have been worth a few quid , but whats devalued it is the market , NOT a motocross track several miles away, the noise was NOT an issue as founded by the enquiry, the minor dust problem has been taken care of and the restrictions put on this venue mean it only gets used half a dozen times a month. Its people like you that really need to find a hobby and stoip trying to ruin others enjoyment.

What has football or any of the other sports you mentioned got to do with this facility, would you rather have 1000's of football fans converging on your doorstep with their drunken behaviour? Oh and what reasons have you given regards a speedway track in Southampton, cant see what this has to do with motocross or 'your' area, oh yes you'd support that because its no where nerar you!
Perhaps the Echo could support something like this instead of stirring up trouble for some money minded person with the not in my back yard mentality.
