Welcome to the live blog as the Olympic Torch arrives in Hampshire. Earlier today the torch was shown off to the people of Basingstoke and will later visit Andover.

The torch is running ten minutes late, the crowds in Winchester have just been told, according to reporter Joe Curtis, who is waiting at Worthy Road.

Torch enters Hyde Street is greeted by its own song, performed by a local choir. A huge crowd is cheering the torch, with the throngs as many as six people deep along the route.

With excitement reaching feverish levels, over-enthusiastic teenagers have been ordered off a seven-foot wall in Market Street by a police officer. “It’s too dangerous,” he said.

Gerry Brown from Atlanta Georgia is the torch bearer running along Hyde Street. He's an employee of Coca-Cola and was chosen for his voluntary work.
