TEACHERS swapped the classroom for the ballroom when they staged their own Strictly Come Dancing event.

Staff at Bitterne Park school entertained students by donning frocks and performing their self-choreographed routines in a bid to win the title.

The event was organised by the school student council with help from staff who recruited 16 dancers, five judges – including chief judge and head teacher Susan Trigger – and hosts to compere the show.

In the end the competition was won by Steve Wilde and Rachael Gooch, who performed to Live and Let Die.

The event was also a money-spinner for the Mencap charity who will be presented with more than £300 from the show.

“I am so proud of how all staff and students immerse themselves in these charity events.”
