A primary school and a cycle shop are working in tandem to provide some pre-Christmas bargains.
Halterworth Primary School and The Bike Centre at North Baddesley, have teamed up to run a cycle and scooter sale at the school from midday on Saturday, November 22.
Sellers and buyers will be able to have bikes safety checked by the shop’s specialist mechanics free of charge at the event, which is being sponsored by SUSTRANS, a charity promoting healthier, safer and cheaper journeys. Sellers should bring their bikes or scooters to the school between 11am and midday to be tagged and priced. Twenty per cent of the sale price from each bike will go to the Halterworth School Association.
One of the organisers, Anni Lee, said: “This is a win-win situation for everyone who takes part.
“Sellers can take advantage of the free labour to have their bikes upgraded to maximise their saleability. Buyers, too, can be confident that the bike they are buying has been properly safety checked,” she said.
Headteacher, Jo Cottrell, said “Cycling is a great activity for families and hopefully this sale will make it more affordable and attractive for local people.”
For further information on the sale call the school on 01794 512028.
