Wellow Primary School pupils Sienna Somers and Milly Mills, both nine, together with Zack Somers six were invited to the Speaker’s rooms in the Houses of Parliament to collect the prestigious Royal Society of Chemistry Bill Bryson Prize for science.

Their prize was awarded by the author himself and they collected £100 to share between themselves as well as £500 to be spent at school.

The children won first prize in the primary school category where they had to answer the question Where is the art in science? Where is the science in art? The children created their own photobook, showing them conducting a range of experiments through a 'comic' style story. Their favourite experiment was making their very own lava lamp.
