ROMSEY’S very own version of The Sound of Music is about to hit the stage.

More than 80 students are involved in Romsey School’s production of the hugely popular musical based on the real life story of the Von Trapp family singers. The school’s production starts next Tuesday (February 3) and and runs to Friday (February 6).

Maddie Cooper, 16, who plays Maria is studying both dance and drama GCSEs.

“She is very talented in performing arts as a whole, with a wonderful voice,” said Alison Clarke, the head of creative arts faculty.

Around 200 primary school pupils watched the show’s final dress rehearsal this week.

And Maddie Cooper met Danielle Hope, the lead in The Mayflower's production of The Sound of Music on Tuesday after watching the show with the rest of Romsey’s cast.

“As the director I am extremely proud of the show and the talent of all students involved, from front of house, back stage, the pit band and those on stage! The creative arts team have worked incredibly hard,” added Alison.

Tickets cost £6 per adult and £4 for students and senior citizens and are available from Romsey School.
